April 2013

Monday 1 April 2013
Colin is on a dating website, but Iolo suggests a social network;  Colin fancies blogging , so looks on chwilota.com.   When Sion collects the painting materials from APD, Jim reveals that neither he or the Rugby Club will be helping – he forgot to ask them, much to Sion’s disgust.
When Iolo enters the café, Jinx asks him to be best man, but Iolo refuses, saying that Jinx deserves better, and hurriedly leaves.   Ed asks Gemma to make more of an effort with Angela, for the family’s sake.   Downstairs in the Deri, Anita and Moc are eating, and of course talk about babies;  Anita leaves for the loo and Moc mentions she is upset because of losing baby Eira, which unsettles Angela.   Anita tells Angela that she never tried for another baby;  it did not seem right.
Ffion and Arwen meet Sion outside the chapel;  he says that she and Jinx are the happiest couple he has seen for a while, then Jinx comes to tell her that Iolo will not be best man, and there are only three weeks to go.   When Sion is home for his lunch break, Britt is angry that Jim let him down.
Ffion goes to see Iolo, who tells her he cannot be best man, as he knows the truth.   She tells him she loves Jinx, and there is baby Arwen to consider;  she says, “Sometimes, doing the wrong thing is the right thing to do.”   So , persuaded, Iolo goes to see Jinx and says he will be best man;  Jinx says that the best man jokes are unnecessary, just say something nice.
Gemma, trying to be friendly, mentions that the next scan will soon be due, and that Ed has never been so happy;  Angela snaps at her.   Britt catches Jim as he comes out of the café and shouts at him that he should be ashamed he has let Sion down.   He replies that she did not come to Sion’s sermon – she should help him herself.
Colin reveals his blog at the Deri, and is advised to put a photo on it;  later Iolo comes home to find Colin, aka “Gwaliarider”, in cycling gear, taking pictures of himself, and tells him he wants no part in his lies — Colin is an idiot, completely pathetic!   At the end of the day, Sion is exhausted, but has more work planned for tomorrow, clearing the cemetery;  he is so determined that Britt phones Madge to cover for her again at the chip shop tomorrow.

Tuesday 2 April 2013
Sion is working in the cemetery when Dani and the dog arrive, and she tells him they are going to Doggie Heaven in Cornwall tomorrow.   Iolo goes to Macs’ and explains he agreed to be best man for Jinx’s sake;  Macs replies that he and Ffion understand each other about Arwen – he told her last week that he is the baby’s father.   Iolo is angry that he thinks so little of Jinx, and warns that this could land Macs in trouble.   He wants to tell the truth for a change, and says at least his father has principles.   Macs says that he has forgotten about Arwen, and Iolo can, too.   Sion continues working, when he is surprised by Britt and Chester coming to help him.
Eifion hears the sound of splashing water from the bathroom, pushes open the door, takes a photo of Sioned, through the shower curtain and smirks.   Later, Cadno suggests they go to the seaside on Friday with Bobi.   While Ffion is talking to Dani and Rover in the street, Jinx goes to the postbox with the wedding invitations, posts all but one, puts the remaining envelope into a carrier bag and stuffs it in the litter bin.   In the interests of recycling, Ffion retrieves the carrier, finds Taid’s invitation, and posts it.   She turns the corner and meets Macs, who tells her that her secret is safe with him, and that she should not call him Arwen’s father again.   Rachel arrives for some extra maths tuition;  when Jinx returns he says he knows what sort of figures Macs likes!   But in fact it really is tuition, although Rachel has other ideas;  after solving some problems, Macs says that is enough, so she immediately tries to kiss him.   He insists that they have to wait until she finishes school, which is only another month;  he is willing to wait, and asks if she is — she leaves, disappointed.
At home, Britt tells Sion she now understands how important Bethania is to him, and they will try to share more;  when he asks what changed her mind, she says it was his sermon, of which she heard part, from the porch.   Colin has had a reply to his blog from Lycra Lover, and now has cold feet about meeting her;  Iolo tells him to taker her on a date and be honest.   Eifion tries to get out of the Friday outing, saying that a part is being delivered;  Sioned says she will sign for it, and when Cadno is out of the room, he asks what she is playing at.   She tells him he is not the only one who can play games, and describes him as “sly.”

Wednesday 3 April 2013
Hywel is helping Sion out in the cemetery, and finds gravestones of those who died at 5 and 37;  Hywel says he has never known anywhere else.   Cadno hides her pregnancy test showing positive, and tells Eifion she is taking Bobi for his checkup;  he sees his chance.   In the café, Hywel suggests a “Who do you think you are?” type programme for CwmFM, but Jinx, giving Arwen her bottle, is not keen.   Macs is at the Deri, and asks Gemma’s advice whether a 10 year gap is too much in a relationship;  she answers that the girl is an adult with a mind of her own.
Eifion hears the shower again, and peers in through the door, Sioned realises he is there, comes out and grabs him, closing the door behind them.

She calls him a “dirty little man” and nods towards the shower, adding, “Lucky there is room for both of us!”

Thereupon, Cadno returns, cannot find Eifion, then sees the two of them cavorting in the shower;  she steps back, devastated.   She drives the Land Rover into the fields, walks to the stream and thinks of her father, and his advice not to lose control.   She tells Bobi his grandad was the best man she has ever known, honest, kind and loyal, but she has Bobi now, and the little one.
Dai is buttering up Sion about Bethania, and eventually reveals he is angling for use of the vestry for Rugby Club fundraising events;  Sion says it is not up to him to decide.   Gaynor tells Hywel she has an interview in Llanrwst, where she grew up, and is excited;  Hywel tries to feign enthusiasm.   Gemma, thinking Macs was propositioning her, says she does not like him “like that”, and he tells her he does not fancy her.   Then, as he is very drunk, he asks his father to take him home.   Sion makes him a coffee and they chat about what sort of woman is “their type”.
When Cadno gets back to the farm, the others are sitting at the table.   She reveals she has been back for some time, and they look worried;  she tells Eifion that he said people should do what they want — did he do what he wanted?   Bobi has gained 4 pounds and grown an inch;  she announces, “He has a bright future,” turns away from Eifion, and smiles.

Thursday 4 April 2013
Eileen advises Colin what to wear on his blind date, although she is surprised that he knows nothing about who he is meeting;  meanwhile Gwyneth is looking at his blog on her laptop.
Angela is at Mark’s not knowing what to do, and drinking too much;  Mark tells her she has to tell Ed the truth — today!   Courtney and Ricky come in, and Courtney insists on taking her inebriated mother back to the Deri.   Once back there, Angela goes to sleep on the sofa;  downstairs Ed is showing the scan picture to Gwyneth, and later Courtney tells him about Angela’s drinking too much at Ricky’s.
Eifion senses something wrong with Cadno, telling her he has been looking forward to their day out tomorrow;  “Oh no, you haven’t!” is her reply.   She is adamant that she and Bobi will go alone, there is no point in his going, as he has been merely pretending to be enthusiastic;  he can stay and sign for the delivery;  but she has a conspiratorial look on her face.
Colin is in the bar, watching for his date, and Gwyneth at the other end introduces herself as Lycra Lover;  she says she has read a lot worse blogs, and suggests a bike ride on a spring day, as he is fit for his age.   Gwyneth says that he does not know anything about her, so he thinks he should learn more.   Upstairs, Ed is very concerned that Angela has endangered the baby, but when he wakes her, she admits there is no longer any baby.   At first he does not believe her and shouts accusations, but eventually he accepts her story that she lost the baby two nights ago;  by this time Courtney and Gemma are in the room.   Angela says she is so ashamed she could not tell them, and they all hug.
At Penrhewl, Sioned asks Eifion if he is still in the doghouse, and he tells her Cadno does not want him to go tomorrow;  with Marian away, they will have the place to themselves.   Sioned says she might have other plans, but he says, “Cancel them!” and kisses her again (but no-one catches them this time).

Friday 5 April 2013
Ricky tells Mark that Courtney has texted him about Angela losing the baby, and now everything is out in the open.   When Mark goes to the Deri, he commiserates with Ed, saying how she had been worried sick for the last two weeks, and how he had advised her to tell him.   Ed goes very quiet, and stands still;  upstairs, Angela tells him how difficult things have been, and then he tells her he has been talking to Mark.   She begs him to ignore what Mark says, but Ed continues about Mark supporting her for two weeks.   She maintains she did not want to hurt him, but he says he wants her out of there tonight!
When Courtney arrives in the doorway, Angela vindictively tries to blame her for what has happened;  Ed says the baby was the only reason he took her back — now there is no baby, there is no reason for her to be there.   Angela hesitates in the bar, and Ed snarls, “Get out of my sight!” as all the customers watch her leave.
Ed tells Gemma that Angela kept quiet for two weeks, and Gemma remarks that she deceived him again.   Garry comments that that there are some things you just cannot forgive — ever!   Angela arrives at APD, and Jim tells her she is “in another mess”;  Courtney tells her if she had been honest with Ed, they would still be in the Deri.   Again she blames Courtney, but Jim protects her and tells Angela to stay away.   “Where do I go?” she wails, but Jim replies, “Your problem!”
Iolo is rather touchy about Garry’s comment in the pub, but Sion tells him to start forgiving himself.   Mark finds Angela sitting on the bench, and says she is welcome at his house, but she blames him and his mouth, and would rather be on the streets.   Colin takes flowers to Gwyneth, and says he will try to live in the real world from now on.   Back at home he gets rid of his 72 followers and the blog.
Packing Angela’s belongings into a box, Ed tells Gemma that he chose the wrong girl, and missed an an opportunity.   Meanwhile, Angela calls to Garry, asking to stay on his sofa;  he just laughs, saying he was not taken in by her, unlike Ed.   Then Jim tells her that Courtney, despite her anger, would not want her mother out on the street, so allows her to stay at his house, “Just for tonight!”

Monday 8 April 2013
However, Angela stays at Mark’s again, and tells Mark that she is going to try talking to Ed again.   Gemma tells Ed that he has done the right thing, and he needs to get away for a while;  he has always wanted to go to America, but it is impossible.   Gemma tells him he needs to find someone to run the pub, and she will keep an eye on them.
Sion is organising the children, volunteering at half-term, Ricky and Courtney are to help in Megan’s charity shop.   Ricky lets slip to his father that Courtney is going on a school trip to Amsterdam, but he has not mentioned it as they cannot afford it.   Ed, outside the Deri, sees Angela and tells her to wait while he fetches the rest of her things, but she hurries to the café and tells Debbie.
Kevin says she has only herself to blame, but Meic is more sympathetic, saying she has lost a baby.   Angela gets a message:  “If you don’t pick it up, I’ll leave it outside the Deri.”   When Gemma mentions running a pub to Diane, she immediately suggests Meic Pierce.
Angela goes to the Deri, where Ed is putting her possessions outside, insisting she deserves to be heard, but Ed just wants her to go, as it is all over.   She rants at him that she would rather live on the street that share a house with a bloke as miserable as him;  both Courtney and Gemma are watching.   He retorts, “Who would want to be stuck with you?   Not me, Jim, Andrew, Garry…”
Gemma reports back to Ed that Meic is the obvious person to run the pub;  Ed has found a flight to Chicago tomorrow.    As Meic is preparing a frozen meal, Ed rings with the offer of running the Deri again.   He does not take long to agree, but when told he will start tomorrow, is rather surprised;  “Nefi wen!” he exclaims, and has one condition, he wants a bag of chips when Ed goes to see him.   Ed is jubilant, and Gemma tells him to hurry, before Meic changes his mind.

Tuesday 9 April 2013
Megan and Marian tell Sion they have been talking to the minister, and think Sion ought to be chapel leader;  he is not so sure.
Meic is looking forward to working at the Deri again, and is put out when Hywel and Gaynor arrive at the café shortly before six, but Kevin admonishes him.

Ffion is vacuuming when Taid walks in and startles her;  she welcomes him, but when Jinx comes in, he is not pleased.   Jinx wants to take the old man to the pub, but Ffion says she will come as well.
At the Deri, Macs compliments Meic on a “perfect pint”;  Ffion gets the drinks while Jinx tells Taid he does not want him anywhere near Ffion;  the old man guesses he has not told Ffion they are cousins – Jinx is scared of how she will react.
When Sion gets home he tells Britt about what the people at the chapel want, and is surprised by her wholehearted support;  he does not think he is qualified, and of course he is hiding a secret.   When Megan and Marian call, he reluctantly agrees, and Marian says, “Hallelujah!”
On Mark’s suggestion, Angela goes to APD to try and sort things out with Courtney, but she does not want to spend a few days with her mother, saying she should “sort herself out.”   In the Deri, Hywel and Gaynor mention visiting North Wales, ostensibly to see relatives, and Ffion introduces Macs to Taid.   When Angela arrives Gemma tells her that Ed is in America;  “He didn’t tell me,” she protests, but Gemma replies, “Why should he?”
Back at home, Ffion sees similarities between Jinx and Taid;  when he goes to Arwen, who is crying, Ffion demands to know why Jinx is so cold towards him.   “I didn’t want him here,” say Jinx, but Ffion insists he will sit next to Val at the wedding;  Jinx is depressed.

Wednesday 10 April 2013
Ffion takes Arwen out for a walk, and as soon as she has gone, Jinx tells Taid he wants him to leave, as there is a danger the truth will come out.   He regrets visiting the old man at Christmas;  he loves Ffion more than anyone and is scared of losing her;  he has been in love twice before and lost both of them.   Taid says she also loves him and will understand.
Dani arrives back from Cornwall, meeting Angela, who is going to Swansea;  Angela says, “You’ve got the rest of your lives together, when he gets back.”   Dani goes to see Gemma at the Deri and learns of Ed’s departure for America;  Gemma thought she would be glad that it is over with Angela, but Dani says she does not know what she wants.   Later Dani collects the dog from the garage, as Sheryl banished it from the salon;  she makes a comment about who is waiting when she gets back, and Garry warns her not to rush into anything.
Rachel is at Macs’ again, doing maths, and saying that her mother thinks she fancies him.   When she tries to leave, she sees Gaynor and Hywel opposite and goes back inside;  Gaynor bangs on the door, but Macs insists she was only doing old maths papers, and Rachel produces them from her bag, rather deflating Gaynor.
She tells Hywel that Macs knows how to wind her up, but if her interview tomorrow goes well, she will not work with him any longer.
When Ffion returns, Taid says that the grandchildren are missing him and he has to go back;  he presents Ffion with a necklace from Thailand, saying she will make Jinx a wonderful wife.   He leaves and goes to the bus stop, meeting Dani and the dog on the way.   Jinx is glad to see the back of him, and Ffion admires the necklace.

Thursday 11 April 2013
Cadno goes out with Bobi, and Eifion immediately embraces Sioned, despite wearing his smelly farm clothes;  Cadno visits the shop, and Eileen tells Colin that she hopes Courtney will not go off the rails like Sioned did.   When Sioned gets dressed, he takes more photos of her;  then she looks at the phone and finds pictures of her in bed and in the shower.   She confronts Eifion, telling him that is what a stalker would do, and realises that he was phoning and following her;  she was terrified, and it was him!
He protests that it was all a bit of fun, but she now sees that he made sure she moved to the farm to get his dirty hands on her.   Shouting that he gives her the creeps, she runs off, back to the village and bursts into the shop;  she tells Eileen what has happened, not mentioning names, about the stalking and the photos on the phone.   When there is a hammering on the door, and Eileen lets in Eifion, she realises it was him.
He tries to blame it all on Sioned being depressed after leaving Macs, but Eileen does not believe him.   Sioned shouts at him to get out, and Eileen threatens to tell Cadno, but he warns their lives will not be worth living if Cadno finds out.   Eileen guesses that they have been sleeping together, and asks why;

Sioned is ashamed, and says that she thinks she is growing up and she is so sorry for everything she has put her mother through.   Eileen says Cadno has a right to know about her partner’s behaviour, and that Sioned can stay until she works something out.
Eifion tries to remove the evidence, but Cadno returns, and wants to use his phone;  he says it is broken.   She asks if Sioned would be eating with them, and he thinks she has moved out;  “Hope you haven’t done anything to upset her,” she says, “I had better phone Eileen.”   He tells her not to, and she chillingly replies, “Let’s not make a fuss.”   Sioned, after a shower, deletes Eifion’s number from her phone.   Cadno finds Sioned’s cardigan on the floor, smells it and puts it in a drawer.

Friday 12 April 2013
Eileen phones Cadno, wanting to collect Sioned’s belongings, as Sioned could not face going back there;  when Eileen arrives, Cadno tells her about being pregnant, and that she has not told Eifion.   She also knows about him and Sioned, and says she does not blame Sioned;  Eifion has had his last chance, and he will not hurt her any more.   She will do anything to safeguard her children’s future, and the farm’s;  she knows exactly what she is going to do.   Eifion comes in an immediately asks, “How’s Sioned?” to which Eileen replies, “Better today!”
A strange man comes into the salon and greets the dog as “Jack”;  he is the owner, and saw the advert Sheryl placed in Cwm Ni;  this does not please Dani.   Sheryl invites Dani to lunch with her and Garry;  there, Garry tells her to be careful with Ed, and she says she is not going to jump into his arms.
Hywel has had a haircut and welcomes Gaynor back from her interview, which went so well she is already talking about looking at houses in North Wales;  “Once you’ve settled, you’ll love it,” she enthuses, but he looks less than happy.
After Eileen has left the farm, Eifion asks Cadno if Sioned will be coming back, and she answers, “Missing her already? — She won’t be back for a long time,” and mentions she found her cardigan on the floor.   Cadno said that when they lived at the farm, Eileen was strict, but Denzil was soft;  Sioned always wrapped men round her little finger.   Then she announces that she and Bobi are going to the park.
Eileen tells Sioned that Cadno can look after herself.   Sioned does not want to eat;  she is angry because she has been so stupid, but Eileen reminds her that she did put a stop to it.   When Sioned says it should never have happened, her mother says she has learned her lesson and will not do it again.   Sioned whispers, “No,” and tries to smile.

Monday 15 April 2013
Garry is trying to do some garage paperwork while looking after Wil in the café;  as Ricky has nothing to do, Garry tells them to watch videos in his flat.   Sioned buys cakes for her mother;  Jim wonders why the change in her, and Eileen reveals the truth, telling him not to say anything.   Sioned mentions her mother’s birthday tomorrow, and Jim has to arrange something hurriedly.
Ricky is not impressed with the choice of videos, and they throw a rugby ball around, which inevitably smashes the glass in a picture of Brandon.   Ricky quickly disappears, and Wil is sweeping up the glass when Garry returns, getting the impression that Ricky bullied the younger lad.   Diane has a phone call from the solicitor, and after visiting there has the key to Graham’s villa in Spain;  she wants Jim to mind the shop at APD while she goes there with Dai, leaving tomorrow, but as he already has time off booked, she decides to go alone, without Dai, which causes a lot of raised voices.
Garry tracks down Ricky to the café, and speaks harshly to him about bullying younger children, telling him he should be setting an example, and warns him not to do anything like that again;  Debbie hears this and questions Ricky, who says nothing.   So she goes steaming off to the garage, cutting her hand on a toolbox in her haste, and accuses Garry of bullying.   When Garry does not take her seriously, she says he will regret it.
Eileen is sharing some lasagne with Colin when Jim appears, saying the surprise is all booked, and reminding her to bring her passport;  he will pick her up at 11am tomorrow.   Eileen is excited and tells Sioned how happy she is.   When Debbie gets back to the café, she looks at her cut hand, and thinks of something to get back at Garry.

 Tuesday 16 April 2013
Debbie swathes her hand in a bandage, and is working in the café when Kevin returns from his trip to Dolgellau;  she says that caused by Garry, in an argument about a ball, when he was shouting at Ricky.
Kevin goes to sort out the “swine”, but Garry is away at an auction, so he complains to Sheryl, who says that Garry would not do such a thing.   Kevin is worried that he might hurt her, for whom he still has feelings;  she will talk to Garry when he gets back.
At the bank, Gemma sees Dani and offers her some shifts at the Deri, as Owain is away;  later, Meic reckons they do not need any help, so Gemma announces she is going to Swansea on Thursday, and he will not manage on his own.
Jim arrives at Eileen’s and as they leave in Jim’s car along the M4 to Cardiff, she is looking forward to going abroad;  however they end up in an “as much as you can eat” establishment, where Jim puts away a vast amount of food.   When he tells her that the passport is needed to prove it is her birthday, so her meal will be free, she is dumbfounded.   She shouts that he has made a fool of her, finding the cheapest treat possible, and that he could not have spent less if he tried.   She accuses him of making her a laughing-stock, and he replies that she is acting like a spoilt brat;  she storms off back home.
When Garry gets home, Sheryl grills him about what happened;  he produces the photo frame, and says he never touched Debbie – she was so wound up that she hit her hand on the toolbox.   This is how she was making him regret what he said to Ricky.   He is disappointed that Sheryl believes the biggest liar in the village instead of him;  “You don’t trust me – but I’m telling the truth!”

Wednesday 17 April 2013
As Jinx and Ffion are discussing the arrangements, Val arrives and is delighted to see Arwen;  she has the bad news that Nesta and Lleucu cannot come because of illness, and suggests Arwen as the bridesmaid.   Ffion says that as long as they both say, “I do,” nothing else matters.
Colin hears a noise upstairs in the shop, and is surprised to find Eileen there;  she explains the disappointing “all you can eat” debacle, and insists she will not forgive Jim, who arrives, but she tells him if spending money upsets him, to clear off.
Kevin is worried that Sheryl is in danger from Garry, as he used to beat her;  Debbie looks concerned.   When Garry comes in, Sheryl has a message from Kevin;  she keeps looking at Garry, and he says, “You think I hurt Debbie, don’t you?” and drags her off to sort it out.   When they get to Kevin’s flat Garry tells Debbie she has no right to spread lies about him.   When Kevin objects, Garry says that Debbie did it to herself, and she sheepishly admits it.   Telling her that there is something wrong with her, Garry and Sheryl leave.   When they have gone, Debbie blames Sheryl for going back to him, and Kevin tells her she should be “completely ashamed”.
Colin advises Eileen not to let the episode break her up from Jim, and suggests they need a weekend in Paris together.   Then he says the same thing to Jim, and later they both buy plane tickets to Paris, blaming Colin, who expected them at least to discuss the idea.   Val has found a dress for Arwen online, and wants to organise a hen night at the Deri, but Jinx has already booked it for his stag do, so Ffion and Val will be pampered at a hotel near Tumble, with a massage etc.
At the Deri, Garry is telling Sheryl that no-one will take advantage of Wil while he is around, and when Kevin comes in, advises him to stay at home to “keep an eye on your poisonous cow!”   But when Kevin mentions “Turning on Sher,” and says, “Cowards hit women,” Garry takes Sheryl home.   He is angry that she discussed his problem with her ex, and thinks they had better end it if she cannot trust him.   She insists that this time he has not touched her, so the therapy is working, and he admits that he loves her.

Thursday 18 April 2013
Ffion and Val are off to the spa, when Hywel and Mark arrive, and dress Jinx in a wedding dress from the charity shop.   Moc’s car pulls up, and Gethin, allowed out of the hospital for the afternoon, is pushed in his wheelchair into the Deri, where Iolo buys him a drink.   Mark tries to persuade Jinx to go to a lap-dancing club in Swansea, but Jinx refuses;  when they get to the Deri, Meic reminds them it is not a drag club, and thinks if Ffion sees him she might change her mind.
When Ffion and Val reach the Spa, Gaynor, Gwyneth, the girl from the bank and some others are there;  there are some disparaging remarks from Val, directed at Gaynor, as Ffion has told her about the DNA test on Arwen.
Gethin’s presence at the Deri is not exactly welcome, but when he offers to buy a round, they all turn on him, making accusations, and Meic has to ask him to leave, with Iolo pushing his chair out of the door.   When Moc comes back from the shop, he is livid, goes in and tells the pub clientele that it is easy for them to be tough guys when he is in a wheelchair;  it takes a big man to forgive, and a little one to point the finger.   Meic tells him to get out, and follow his liar of a son, then blames Dani for serving him in the first place.   Dani immediately walks out, leaving Meic to run the place on his own.
Iolo watches as Gethin gets into the car, and tells his father that he “can’t do this any more,” as it is his fault that Gethin is in that wheelchair.   Sion says that it is too late to confess now, as it will cause Gethin even more upset, and insists that they go back into the Deri and act normally.
Ffion gets Martinis for all the guests, and tells Val that she is now only tempted when she is hungry, angry, lonely or tired.   Ffion has already asked Val to give her away, but all the girls fall silent when Val announces that she is not Ffion’s aunt, but in fact her mother.

Friday 19 April 2013
Meic complains to Kevin that The Deri will be short-staffed for the wedding, but later Kevin and Debbie buy the surplus tickets to Paris from Eileen, so he cannot help out.   Kevin warns Debbie never to try anything like that again;  he will always look out for Sheryl and Wil.
Sion visits Gethin in the hospital, and is surprised that Gethin does not blame the car driver – he says it is all his own fault and he deserved it, but the feeling in his legs may come back at any time.
Jinx has a hangover when he and Ffion go to the Deri, and they hear the news that the minister, Mr Jenkins, has had a heart attack;  Ffion panics about the wedding, but Megan says she will arrange something.
Sion is called home, where Megan wants him to conduct the wedding service, and the registrar will deal with the actual vows.   He agrees to this, and is described as a “Good Samaritan”.   Meanwhile Jinx suggests they cancel the service, if Ffion had her heart set on a proper chapel service.   She interprets this as Jinx trying to avoid marrying her, and shouts about her two previous husbands letting her down, but eventually she calms down and he convinces her that he loves her.
Jim despairs of having a romantic weekend in Paris, with the other couple “following us around like a bad smell”.   Kevin tells his father he is off to Paris, and cannot help in the Deri;  his only chance is to ask Dani to come back – it is either her or nothing.   Sion tells Iolo that Gethin does not blame the car driver, but this does not stop Iolo blaming himself.   As the group wait to go into the Chapel for the rehearsal, Megan tells the happy couple about what she has arranged, and that it will be a perfect wedding;  Ffion says she cannot wait to be Mrs Jenkins.

Monday 22 April 2013
Ffion is having her hair done in the salon;  Sheryl says that Jinx has had some bad luck, but he has never been this happy.   Sion is nervous about officiating.   Meic, having made up with Dani, prepares the Deri for the reception;  they agree they have done a good job.   Taid arrives and asks for a room at the Deri.   Jinx panics with Iolo about the rings, then they go for a quick one.
Anita wheels Gethin into village;  Meic says Gethin is not welcome inside, so Anita goes into Deri to fetch cups of tea;  Gethin wants to go home, but Anita insists on organising him.   As she goes to the cash machine, Gwynfor, talking by the pillar-box, makes disparaging comments, and Meic, checking on balloons outside, complains about Gethin being there, describing him as a “shameless liar.”
Iolo talks to him;  with all the stress, Gethin suffers what is thought to be a heart attack, struggling for breath, and an ambulance is called to take him to hospital.   Iolo is worried;  “Please don’t die,” he mutters.
Jinx has a drink, then Taid comes downstairs;  Jinx says he asked him to stay away, and is frightened that Ffion will find out they are cousins;  he wants to marry Ffion more than anything else.   Taid says that Jinx, Ffion and Arwen mean everything to him, and he may not have long left;  but he says he will sit at the back and keep quiet.
Iolo wants to go in the ambulance with Gethin, and tells Sion that he was about to reveal that he was the hit and run driver, but Sion tells him now is not the time — he has a wedding to attend to, and they head for the chapel.
At Bethania, all have assembled with harp music accompaniment;  Ffion walks in, looking radiant, Sion leads the service,

then hands over to Mari, the registrar.   She invites any objections — Taid coughs, which worries Jinx, but then Iolo stands up, says he cannot keep quiet any longer, and reveals that Arwen’s father is in fact Macs, despite Ffion’s efforts to silence him.

In the resultant uproar, the registrar is confused, Jinx is distraught;  he dashes out of the chapel, followed by Iolo;  in the middle of the street, Jinx turns and punches Iolo, knocking him to the ground.  He looks at the Deri, all decorated for the occasion, and hugging Gwyneth, is in tears.

Tuesday 23 April 2013
Hywel makes a sarcastic remark to Macs, Val shouts that the show is over;  outside, Iolo is enquiring about Gethin;  Macs grabs him and drags him into his house, demanding why he had to destroy the occasion.   Iolo says he is tired of all the secrets and says he is going to tell Gethin the truth about the car accident.
The stunned congregation gradually leave;  Sion asks Ffion how she could do this to Jinx, and Val reminds him that it was his son who did this.   Ffion admits she cannot remember what happened;  Val tells Britt to go, so just Ffion and Val are left.
Ffion reveals that last year she had no idea who she had slept with, but she knows who the father is;  she wants to go home.   Sion arrives at Macs’ and bangs on the door, then accuses Iolo of ruining Ffion’s and Jinx’s lives;  revealing other people’s secrets will not solve anything.   Macs tells him that he told Ffion, she couldn’t remember.
The guests all retire to the Deri, and Meic encourages them to eat the food, otherwise it will be wasted.   Dai makes disparaging remarks about Jinx, not realising he is talking to Jinx’s grandfather, who then returns to his room upstairs with a bottle of whiskey.   Ffion wonders where she got her devious nature from — “like mother, like daughter”.   Of course she wants him back — she loves him.
Now without her wedding dress, Ffion tries to find Jinx, asking Taid at the Deri, who replies that he went with “that ying yang woman”.    Ffion hurries there, pushes her way in and tries to apologise;  Jinx demands to know when she had intended to tell him — if ever.   He says that Arwen has blonde hair, “like Macs bloody White!”   He says it is wrong, them being together, as they are cousins, but she does not believe him.

Ffion protests that she loves him, and she knows he still loves her, but Jinx is adamant that he does not, and she leaves — Jinx is in tears.
Sion feels like a complete failure, and is so ashamed;  he tells Britt that Iolo is on a crazy crusade to tell the truth.   Britt tells him that he has to let his sons go – he cannot protect them for ever;  they must take responsibility for their own lives.

Wednesday 24 April 2013
Despite Val’s objections, Ffion goes to school, saying that single mums cannot afford to lose their jobs;  she has no choice but to abandon hope.

When she gets to the school, Mark makes uncalled-for remarks, and addresses Macs as “Daddy” when he arrives, as did Gwynfor in the street.
On the way, Macs had encountered Sioned, who said that he was busy while they were engaged;  Ffion, Gaynor — were there any others?   She hopes Ffion fleeces him for every penny.   Taid goes to see Jinx, who tells him that Gwyneth is the only friend he has left;  he says he did love them, both of them..   Macs tells Ffion he has no interest in being a father to Arwen, and encourages her to try and stay with Jinx.   She tells him he can can hardly tie his shoelaces, he would not make a father.
Sion speaks to Ifor in the Deri;  he has been clearing up after his sons for years, and tells Sion that there is a time when they have to stand on their own feet.   Sion tells him there is nothing between Macs and Ffion, and Taid thinks it is all over between Jinx and Ffion now.
Cadno comes into the shop and remarks on Macs;  “It must be awful when your partner is unfaithful,” she says.   Sion goes to see Macs, who says that Ffion does not want him near Arwen, and Sion wonders how he raised such a waster.   Sion says he will do all he can to help Ffion.   Macs goes to see Jinx, and tells him that he is the one Ffion wants, and he does not want to be Arwen’s father;  without Jinx, Arwen has no-one.
Their night together was a drunken fling, but Jinx is the one she wants;  Jinx replies that it was the his chance of happiness, and Macs stole it.   Macs says that Jinx has been there since the beginning, and he deserves to have Arwen, and he should be there now.   “For Arwen’s sake, forgive Ffion!”
When Ffion gets home she yells at Val to stop suffocating her.   Cadno has a drink with Colin outside the Deri, and treats Eifion very casually when he passes with Bobi.
Taid goes to the bus stop, but is seen by Ffion;  she tells him that Jinx has said that they are cousins, and Taid confirms it — he is Ffion’s grandfather, too.   His two sons – Maldwyn, Jinx’s father, and Dewi, Ffion’s father.   When told that Jinx knew they were cousins since Christmas, and had not told her, she is distraught, although Taid says he was scared he would lose her;  she says she has been sleeping with her cousin, and runs off.
She goes into the shop, and comes out hiding a bottle under her jacket!   At home, Arwen’s cries make her think, and Val starts fussing again;  Ffion is at her wits’ end.

Thursday 25 April 2013
Ffion is looking up marriage between cousins on her laptop;  Val insists it is not a good idea for them to stay together.   Ffion enquires about her father, and is told that he, Dewi, and her grandfather have been dead for years, but Ffion points out that Ifor is staying at the Deri.   Garry tells Sion that although not a true “Monk”, Arwen deserves a smart teacher like Macs, rather than scruffy Jinx, as a father.
Ivor and Meic are sorry for Jinx, hoping that something good will come of it, and Meic says Deri Deithio will take him to the railway station, when Val bursts in.   Ivor says that Ffion would love to see her father, but after some unpleasantness, Val decides that she will have to take Ffion away with her, to save her from Jinx and Taid.   Garry comes out of the shop with a mug bearing the words “Mam-gu” to give to Britt, but Sheryl urges him to hide it from Jinx
As Ffion takes off her engagement ring, Sion arrives to talk to her, but she is not receptive;  he tells her that he is willing to help with Arwen, but she emphatically states that Jinx is the baby’s father, and loves her.   She wonders how something so perfect can go so wrong;  she thought she was doing the right things, and loves him so much.
Sion thinks they may be able to salvage the relationship, but then Val returns, accusing Sion of trying to get his hands on Arwen.   When he has gone, she urges Ffion to pack her things, but Ffion insists she must talk to Jinx first;  however, Val keeps on at her about Jinx keeping secrets from her, and Ffion retorts that she has kept a worse secret from him.
Meanwhile, Sion has gone straight to Jinx, to warn him that Ffion is likely to leave very soon, and that he and Ffion were very happy;  he adds that Jinx is a better father than Macs will ever be.   “Do you want to lose both of them for ever?”

As Val is bundling Ffion into the car, Jinx runs towards them, shouting, “Don’t leave!”   Val starts on him, but he tells her to shut up, Ffion takes Arwen out of the car, and, with Val telling her she is making a big mistake, she walks back into the house with Jinx.

25  Friday 26 April 2013
Jinx looks at a photo of the three of them, and he wants an explanation:  was Ffion sleeping with every man around there?   When she admits that she does not remember, he says he has been talking to Macs.   Ffion admits that she was already pregnant when he woke up in bed with her, but nothing had happened, and she did not know what else to do.   Jinx thinks she chose him because he was so desperate he would believe anything;  he did love her and Arwen, but not any more.   He had never loved anyone as much as those two, but it was one lie after another.

She produces the bottle of vodka, and tells him he gave her the strength to stop drinking;  as she pours it down the sink, she tells him that Arwen would not be here if it were not for him.   Jinx walks out of the door, and stands disconsolately outside;  Arwen begins to cry loudly, and he can hear from out there;  he hesitates, then lets himself back in with the  key.
Ffion is comforting the baby, and gives her to Jinx, who takes her back to her cot;  then they talk, with Ffion admitting she had used him at first, then she wanted to be with him – it was fun and she felt a better person with him.   Then she fell in love with him, at Y Dorlan, when she realised she wanted to be with him for ever;   she would do anything for them to stay together.
Jinx kept the secret from her as he did not want to lose her, and Ffion tells him he is more of a father than Macs could ever be;  just what Sion had said.   He does not want to leave;  he has never had a family life until now, and never knew what love was until he met Ffion.
“A relationship between cousins is not illegal, so what is the big deal?” Ffion says, and they agree to take things one step at a time.   She admits that at Christmas she wanted to give Arwen a family, but all she needs is there.   Jinx tells her that contrary to what Val said, Ffion’s father is still alive and living in Ireland, possibly Galway;  if she wants, Jinx will help her find him.   But at the moment she just wants to get back to being a family, just the three of them, and they agree not to try for any more babies — one is enough.

Jinx slips the engagement ring back on Ffion’s finger, then they hug;  back together, and happy again.

Monday 29 April 2013
Britt is proud of Sion, sending Jinx to see Ffion.   Moc knocks on Iolo’s door to tell him that Gethin is improving, and would welcome a visit from him.   Diane is back from Spain, talking about Enrique, who she met there;  Meic presents Dai with the bill for champagne at Jinx’s stag night, which Diane eventually agrees to pay.   Meic also remarks on how fit he is, with two businesses to run.
Colin at first jokes about Iolo’s outburst at the wedding, but then advises there is a time to tell the truth, and a time to keep quiet., but Iolo says everyone hates him.   Iolo takes a taxi to the hospital, where Gethin has heard about the wedding, and tells him that the truth always comes out, and that sharing things will help.   When Iolo finally admits that he was the driver who knocked Gethin down, he calmly replies that he knew.   The person who was charged did not seem right, and Iolo was always saying how sorry he was and was trying to help.   Iolo was the only person who would look at him.   Then his tone changes — “Look at what you’ve done!   Get out!”
Sion and Britt visit Ffion, who is very uneasy, despite Sion’s apology for what his two sons had done.   His offers of help, as he is Arwen’s grandfather, are rebutted;  “Jinx is Arwen’s father.   Macs does not want to get involved.”   They are about to leave when Jinx gets back;  actually shaking Sion’s hand, appreciating his part in the reconciliation, and invites them to have a cup of tea.   When they finally go, Ffion is relieved, but Jinx tells her it is not easy for him either, and they cannot avoid people.
Ffion says, “One minute I only have a few relatives, and the next…”
Jinx tells her , “The only family I need are here!   We’ll get through this — just the three of us.”
Iolo arrives home in even more of a panic;  he hears a siren, and is convinced the police are coming for him.

Tuesday 30 April 2013
Iolo is asleep on the sofa, and is woken by the postman;  he picks up his jacket and rucksack and leaves, calling first at Sion’s to tell him that Gethin already knew it was him driving the car.   He cannot wait any longer – he is going to tell  Gethin to call the police.   Diane puts her new vase on the table, and inevitably it is knocked off by Dai with his golf bag.
At school, Gaynor has a phone call, inviting her for a second interview tomorrow at 2pm;  she tells Mark, and also advises him that another child has dropped out of the Amsterdam trip, but Mark cannot afford the £400 cost for Ricky to go.   In the Deri, Diane is demanding the money back that she paid for the champagne, so Dai storms off;  Mark mentions to her that Ricky cannot go on the school trip, and asks for a loan, but Diane refuses.   Colin tells him, “Neither a borrower or a lender be,” and Mark tells him that Gaynor is going to North Wales.
Iolo arrives at the hospital and tells Gethin to call the police, but Gethin does not intend to;  it would make no difference – he would still be disabled.   Iolo’s conscience will punish him enough;  “Everyone deserves a second chance, even us,” he says.   Iolo helps him into his wheelchair, and they seem to have an agreement.   “It’s better to tell the truth in the end than not at all,” says Gethin.
At APD, Courtney comes in, with Ricky, looking for her dad, and when they leave, they are talking about the school trip, which makes Diane think.   Hywel comes into the Deri, and Colin mentions Gaynor’s interview, adding, “Have you ever known Gaynor to fail at anything?   She is an ambitious woman, making everything about ‘her’, and everyone else has to fit in.”
Diane tells Dai that she might lend the money to Mark, and Dai complains;  he thinks he might get more respect from her if he were fit, “Like your Spaniard!”   When he goes home to collect ten toilet seats, delivered there in error, he hears noises upstairs;  a masked intruder comes down, and confronts Dai, even though he is armed with a rolling pin.   He is backed into a chair, disarmed, and the masked man picks up an apple and snarls, “Pathetic!”   After he has gone, Dai pours himself a drink, and cries.
