June 2013

Monday 3 June 2013
Two black-coated youths run down the street, having stolen tools from the garage;  while Iolo chases one, Kevin manages to corner the other, whom he recognises, and who tells him his accomplice is Dan Bach.   Garry insists on involving the police, but Kevin says it is not necessary;  Iolo lost the other thief on the way towards Cwrtmynach and Kevin wants to go there.   While the police are there, Macs sees Ffion in the street, but she walks away from him;  Iolo stresses to him he has to tell her, and he says he will, over the weekend.   He is afraid he could be charged and go to prison.   Iolo emphasises that people’s health is at stake, he has had sufficient time, and he has no intention of telling them.
Angela is furious with the bridesmaid’s dress and refuses to wear it;  Debbie asks Gwyneth if she can make some alterations.   Debbie complains that Angela is so “stroppy”, arguing that she is the one getting married;  she goes on at Kevin about a best man, but he does not think his father will agree.
In the café, Ffion tells Debbie it is hard to go to work, leaving Arwen at home, and Macs is listening to this;  he tells her that he has something to tell her, but not there – somewhere private.   Then he changes his mind and tells her it is a problem with year 10 at school.   Iolo goes to Sion’s and tells him that Macs has Hepatitis B, has had it for months, and Sioned, Gaynor and Ffion may have been infected.   Sion is stunned, and agrees to see Macs after school.
Sheryl is going on about CCTV at the garage when Kevin comes in, with the missing box of tools, saying he asked around and followed his nose.   Sheryl is effusive with her thanks, and Garry grouses that she made him look “this small,” saying Kevin did this to satisfy his own ego.
Debbie is still going on at Kevin when Angela comes to look at the altered dress, for which Debbie expects her to pay.   Sion walks into Macs’ house and reveals that Iolo told him everything;  Macs says he had no right, and that the fear of charges stops him telling those involved.   His father tells him he knows what he should do, and offers to go with him, but he refuses, saying, “I’ll tell them.”
Meic congratulates Kevin on retrieving the tools, and Kevin asks him, “What are you doing on Saturday?”   After protesting that he could not make a speech praising her, Meic eventually agrees to be best man, and Kevin tells him to bring the taxi business back to the café.

Tuesday 4 June 2013
In the shop, Ffion tells Eileen and Sioned that Jinx is a match for Arwen;  Macs walks in and says he must have a word with Ffion, but she replies that it will have to wait until school tomorrow.
At Dai’s they are preparing a social gathering with the local councillors, and Jim says he is staying to protect APD’s good name.   The first two guests arrive – Berwyn and Twm.
Sion tells Britt he has discovered why Macs is acting like he is – he has had Hepatitis B for some time, and has put Ffion, Gaynor and Sioned at risk.   He rings Macs’ iPhone;  as Macs looks at it, Jinx passes, calling him, “Scum!”   Macs tells Gaynor he is ill, and has something to tell her, as an ex-partner, but at that moment Hywel returns, and says he is sick in the head.
At Dai’s, six councillors are being harangued by Dai, about what a good thing the development is for Cwmderi, and how it benefits everyone.   Jim points out that the County Council have the final word.   After they have gone, Dai calls Jim, “Stupid,” and Jim says, “Don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Sion goes to Macs’ house and again urges him to tell those at risk, but he is scared of what their reaction will be.   So Sion goes to Ffion and Jinx, and tells them about Macs’ illness, and that it is important that they go for a test;  they explain that they are both clear.   Ffion is furious that Macs has done this;  Jinx complains, “He always gets away with it.   I’m going to teach him a lesson,” and goes, despite Ffion’s pleas that he is not worth it.   Sion then goes to the planning meeting, where he finds Gaynor and tells her the bad news;  she asks Hywel to take her home and she will explain.
Jinx hammers on Macs’ door and threatens to kick it down;  once inside, he rants. “Coward!   You knew but didn’t come clean – and sent your dad over to tell us!”   He could have ruined Ffion’s and Jinx’s lives, as well as Arwen’s.   “Nothing would give me more pleasure than beating you to pulp, but that would be over too quickly!   I want you to really suffer - I’m going to tell everyone how disgusting you are!”   Jinx leaves, warning Macs that when he is finished, no-one will want to know him.
Later, in the Deri, Dai is crowing that the application was passed by two-thirds of the councillors, but Jim says he cannot see further than his nose.
Jinx reports back to Ffion, who argues that he should not tell everyone just yet;  they must think about Gaynor and Sioned.   Sion visits Macs, who accuses him of interfering again;  Jinx has been there, and he is expecting Hywel.   When Hywel is told, he is very angry, and says she ought to have used “protection.”   Gaynor reminds him  that he thought he was the father of Arwen, and Nesta’s baby.   He gives an ultimatum, “If you’ve brought that disease into our home, I’m packing my bags and leaving!”

Wednesday 5 June 2013
Garry is home early, and Sheryl has arranged for them to go to the Karaoke Night at the Deri;  Garry is not keen.   Moc meets Angela and tells her he may have some leads for her business, taking her into the bank;  Gethin is watching, and tells Iolo to take him home – he doesn’t fancy the Deri.   Gethin works on his CV;  he concludes that with a failed business, bankruptcy and wheelchair, he stands little chance of a job.   Iolo helps him out with some spellings.
Dai is scheming about another four acres of land , suitable for a factory, swimming pool or hospital, which would need the strip they have purchased from Penrhewl for access, making them a lot more money.
At the Deri, Debbie says it is her last outing as a single woman, Cadno and Eifion arrive, and Sheryl goes on and on about Garry singing.   In the end he agrees, but makes rather a fool of himself.   Anita and Iolo tell Cadno and Eifion that they have let the village down, selling the land, so they leave.   Debbie suggests that Sheryl and Kevin should sing together, and at that point Garry has had enough and goes home.   Sheryl tells Kevin that Garry is sensitive, and he replies that she is with the wrong bloke.
After all his boasting, Dai makes a complete mess of his song.   Anita is jealous of Moc giving Angela attention.   “I hope we’re not stuck with her all night,” she moans.
Back at the farm, Eifion says that everyone is jealous of the money they are making;  their relationship is improving, as Cadno allows him to sleep in her bed, “Only for tonight – and just cuddling!”
Debbie is so drunk she is almost unable to stand up when she gets home.   Garry is waiting for Sheryl, and accuses her of poking fun at him;  all she has done this week is make him feel small in front of Kevin.   He asks her what she is trying to do.   She replies that it is not easy, living with him;  “You try and please everyone as if you don’t have a backbone any more!   There’s a middle ground between being a wet rag and being a psycho!”
He replies that she wanted him to change;  he has a quick temper and he is scared to let go, and does not know where to draw the line.   Childhood in a children’s home has not taught him that.   “I can’t always be the person you want me to be, but I haver to keep trying.   I don’t want to be the old person any more, and I don’t want to lose you.   Please help me!”   Sheryl assures him that she loves him, and that she has no feelings for Kevin.

Thursday 6 June 2013
Sion phones, and Macs replies, “No, I haven’t told Sioned yet!”   Megan hears that Gethin is feeling sorry for himself, and offers him some unpaid work in the charity shop, but the lack of space for his wheelchair makes him give up.   Moc is talking to Angela in his office about the possibility of the nursing business expanding;  when she leaves, and he says he might see her in the Deri at lunchtime, Diane is waiting to see him, wanting to cancel the cheque for £80,000 to Eifion.
In the Deri, she tells Anita what she has done, that it is too much of a gamble, but she has not told Dai yet;  she also lets Anita know that Moc is taking Angela out to lunch.   Macs comes in for a pint of lager, has a text from his father, and rings him, saying, “Dad, stop hassling me!”
Angela has had a walk round the farm with Marian, and Cadno says that things between her and Eifion are improving.   Shortly afterwards, Gethin tells Anita that his father and Angela seem to be good friends;  “He’s a dog that strays,” but Anita maintains he is quite happy with her.
Outside the shop, Sioned talks to Gaynor about a supply chemistry teacher, then Macs approaches, and asks Sioned for a word in private;

in the flat upstairs, he at last tells her about the Hepatitis B, which he has had for a while and is untreatable.   He emphasises that she may have the virus, as they slept together, but when he urges her to be tested, she thinks he is just looking for sympathy.   He asks why he would lie about a thing like this, and she replies, “You’ll do anything for a bit of sympathy!   Have you ever done anything for anyone else?   You’re just looking for an excuse not to help Arwen!”   She orders him out, as she has a shop to run.
In the Deri, Angela is describing Moc’s role as a “guardian angel”, but will not be going ahead with running an old people’s home – that is too daunting at the moment.   Then Anita finds them together, and asks Moc, “Are you trying to tell me something?”   Moc manages to allay her fears.
Iolo offers Gethin some part-time work with the plumbing business:  phone, paperwork, accounts.   Then he goes to Macs’ where he is told that Sioned did not believe him, and despite Iolo’s objections, insists that his conscience is clear;  he has told her, what she does is up to her.   Ffion ignores him, Gaynor hates him;  “See now why I didn’t tell anyone?”

Friday 7 June 2013
Sheryl tells Dani that she cleared up the misunderstanding about Kevin with Garry;  Debbie arrives and discusses how she wants to look for the wedding.   In Kevin’s flat they are rehearsing for the wedding, with Debbie wanting some of the wording changed;  after they have gone, Mark wishes Kevin all the best, then Kevin goes to the Deri for a drink.
Garry tells Sheryl he has had a quote for CCTV in the garage, and that he is taking her out to Y Glyndwr at eight, with Dani babysitting.
When Gaynor and Hywel have had their tests, Hywel wastes no time in hurrying home;  he tells Gaynor that he has not forgiven her, although their results were clear.   Kevin sits deep in thought at the Deri, then leaves his pint half-finished and heads to the salon;  he goes in, locks the door behind him, and tells Sheryl, who is vacuuming, “We need to talk.”   He says he has been trying to bury his feelings, but cannot.   The way that they have been toward each other proves she feels the same, and Sheryl’s denials do not dissuade him.
He offers to cancel the wedding and insists that he wants her, but she says he is drunk and emphatically replies, “Kevin, no!” and pushes him away, but he throws her on to the sofa and lies on top of her.   Garry is looking for her and bangs on the salon door, shouting, “Sher!”   She looks terrified, but does not make a sound.   Kevin tells her to ignore him, “We’re back together now.”
A few minutes later, Sheryl sobs, “If you think you can get me back by raping me...”   Kevin accuses her of wanting it as much as he did, but she reminds him she said, “No!”   She says she did not shout to Garry, because he would have killed Kevin, torn him to pieces;  she loves Garry and she does not want him in prison because of Kevin.   She snarls, “Rapist!” and he leaves the salon, watched by Garry from up the street.
Hywel comes downstairs, having packed a bag, and says he does not think he can live with Gaynor any more.   When she points out that they are both to blame, with affairs and lies, he asks, “Who says it won’t happen again?   How many more skeletons are in the cupboard?”   Gaynor pleads with him to try yet again.
Sheryl arrives home and sees the red roses that Garry has bought her;  he asks if Kevin was her last customer, and when she says he came for a trim, he replies that the door was locked and he did not see anyone.   She maintains she was out the back, giving Kevin a cup of tea to calm his nerves.   When she goes for a shower, Garry looks suspicious.

Monday 10 June 2013
SATURDAY:
Sheryl has said nothing to Garry, and he assures her that he trusts her and is “trying to find that middle ground.”   She goes to the salon, and finds it difficult to to in the door when she sees Kevin watching her from the café;  she has not started on Debbie’s hair when she says Debbie ought not to marry him, explaining that Kevin raped her in the salon last night.   Debbie's response is, “Kevin wouldn’t do that!   You’re sick, Sheryl Ann, full of lies!” and she storms out to see Kevin.
Meic is telling him that he is not the first one to have cold feet when Debbie bursts in and orders Meic out;  when told what Sheryl said, Kevin insists he would never rape anyone.   He admits having sex with her, but says she messed with his head, and that he did not force her.   Meanwhile, Sheryl is telling Dani and Gwyneth what happened, and they say she must contact the police, immediately.   Debbie convinces herself that Sheryl threw herself at Kevin, wanting revenge, and Kevin is worried that she will go to the cops.   He tells Debbie, “If you don’t marry me today, my life will be finished!”
Meic remembers the day Kevin was due to marry Sheryl;  outside the bride and entourage walk down the road just as DS Fielding and another officer go into Garry’s.   When Garry arrives in his car, Debbie snarls, “If that lying slut spoils today, I’ll kill her!   Kevin wants me, not her!”
When Debbie reaches the café, she tells them to “get a shift on”, as the police are at Sheryl’s.   As Sheryl is giving her statement, Garry comes in, asking, “Did Kevin do this?”   He then storms out, full of rage, looks at the café and punches the wall by the bus stop;  Dani tells him that Sheryl needs him.
Debbie rushes in to Bethania and wants the service to start there and then, despite there being no organist.   Sion invites any objections from the few present in the chapel, and in due course the couple make up their own words when exchanging rings;  Sion pronounces them Mr and Mrs Powell, then it’s, “Quick, let’s sign the register,”
Garry, with bleeding knuckles, returns to his flat, and tells DS Fielding, “The sooner the better, arrest Kevin.   I want to see him pay for this!”

Tuesday 11 June 2013
SATURDAY (continued):
In the Deri after the service, two police officers come in and take away Kevin:  when Meic wants to know what is going on, Debbie reveals the whole story of Sheryl’s claim of rape.   She tells them that Sheryl was jealous of her, and made it up, thinking she would stop the wedding going ahead, but she was wrong.
Everyone has their own opinion – Dai is surprised at Kevin sleeping with his ex on the eve of the wedding.   Meanwhile Sheryl has been taken for forensic tests, but Garry stays at home, and then goes to Britt and tells her everything;  she urges Garry to be with Sheryl, but he blames himself for what happened – he should have stepped in on the Karaoke evening.   If he had known what was going on at the salon, he would have knocked down the door and killed Kevin;  Despite what Britt says, he heads to the Deri, where he downs several shorts, in quick succession.
Kevin is being interviewed by DS Fielding;  he says that she was pressuring him not to get married, which showed she still had feelings for him, and that she wanted it, but panicked afterwards.   He says that Sheryl has had at least three relationships since him:  one was married, then his father, then back to the one who battered her, Garry Monk.
At the Deri, a drunken Debbie staggers off to Mark’s, accompanied by Angela, and Moc seems very concerned for Wil;  Anita texts Sheryl to say he can stay with them.   She also mentions that anyone stupid enough to be Garry Monk’s girlfriend might well have made up the allegation.   Eifion dashes in to show Cadno a letter saying the cheque has been cancelled;  they confront Dai and Diane, and are told that she had cold feet – Dai characteristically blurts out, “That land was worth £200,000 if the plans were passed!”   Later at home Cadno berates Eifion for not paying in the cheque sooner, but Eifion thinks it may have been for the best, as they stand a chance of making more money now.   At Mark’s, Kevin’s solicitor wants a statement from Debbie, but she is out cold after several cans.
Kevin is getting impatient to leave, but he is taken to a cell;  Sheryl arrives home, Garry, outside the Deri, sees her and hurries over.   He hugs her and she breaks down in tears.

Wednesday 12 June 2013
SUNDAY:
Garry gives Sheryl an orange juice, then DS Fielding rings, wanting to talk to Sheryl again.
Kevin hears from his cell Debbie’s voice, “Open that door before I put a bomb under it!” and he is free to go;  he tells Debbie they have things to sort out.   Iolo returns from an emergency plumbing job, for which Gethin negotiated double time plus a call-out charge.   Colin comes in, telling them he has heard that Kevin spent the night in jail for raping Sheryl.   Meic sees Kevin and Debbie return to the village, and announces to Jinx, passing with Ffion, he has news for CwmFM — “Kev is innocent!”
Questioned by DS Fielding, Sheryl says she asked Kevin to reconsider, as Meic had requested;  when pressed, she admits that if she had called out for Garry, he would have half-killed Kevin, and the DS queries, “You were afraid of Garry harming Kevin?”
In the Deri, Colin says that Jinx is a much better father to Arwen than Macs;  Jinx says Macs could have infected Arwen, and despite Ffion urging him to keep quiet, he reveals Macs’ Hepatitis B.   Then Colin returns to Gethin and Iolo, saying now they have Kevin to talk about, everyone will forget about Macs, and his illness.
Sheryl is determined to have Sunday lunch at the Deri, but when they arrive, there are a lot of comments about her.   When Meic, Kevin and Debbie walk in, there is bound to be trouble;  Debbie calls Sheryl “a lying cow”, Sheryl retorts, “You may call me names, nut I know what happened!   I said, ‘NO!’”   Kevin maintains that she gave him all the signs, but Sheryl reveals that Meic asked her to talk to him.   “I have not wanted you for years!   I said ‘NO’ and you ignored me!”   Kevin accuses Meic of always interfering in his life and walks out.   Debbie goes back to the flat and weeps.
Gethin tells Iolo he can double the amount of work he gets within a month, and Iolo agrees to give him 15% of every new job he finds.
Garry is very calm with Sheryl at home, and then she believes he has really changed.   At that moment Kevin arrives, admits he did it, but says he did not understand.   He offers Sheryl money, and Garry tells him he should have thought of the consequences beforehand.   Kevin wants Garry to beat him up, as it is what he deserves, but Garry tells him, “That would be too easy;  I want you in the dock, in front of your father and friends, ashamed of what you are.”
Kevin warns him he will plead not guilty – her word against his, and we know how witnesses are treated in court.   As Kevin leaves, Sheryl says, “Kevin — Go to hell!” and picks up her electric iron, bringing it down on Kevin’s head;  he collapses to the floor, while Garry looks aghast.

Thursday 13 June 2013
SUNDAY EVENING:
Garry tries unsuccessfully to rouse Kevin and cannot find a pulse;  Sheryl panics, “I’ve killed Kevin!” but Garry reassures her that he simply slipped.   They must dispose of the body, or they will both be in jail;  Garry tells her he will arrange it, and the less she knows, the better.   He asks Sheryl if she heard him shout outside the salon;  she nods, but says she did not call out because she did not want Garry in jail for injuring Kevin.   As Garry assures her he will do anything for her, Kevin’s phone rings –it is Debbie, desperate to find him.
Above the shop, Colin tells Sioned and Eileen that he has just heard about Macs having HepB, and Jinx confirmed it.   Eileen is shocked, looks up the condition and Sioned is very worried;  she dashed off to see Macs.   She demands how how long he has known, and he replies that it was during therapy, after the trial.
“We were together!   How could you do this to me?   I thought you really loved me!” she shouts.   He tells her if he had gone straight to the police after the rape, he could have been vaccinated, but now it is too late.   She is very angry that he knew and did not tell her, although sleeping with her time after time.   “Why infect me, after all the support I gave you?”
Garry’s phone rings, DS Fielding is on the way with more questions;  they quickly drag the body into the bedroom, and Garry covers the bloodstain with a rug, before letting the DS in   After quizzing Garry, she is about to leave when Sheryl bursts out, “I can’t do this!” which Fielding takes to mean giving evidence.   After she has gone, Garry tries to calm Sheryl again.

When Sioned tells Eileen what Macs said, she promises to arrange tests for Sioned and asks who else is at risk.   Sioned realises Eifion and Cadno may have been infected, so they rush to the farm.   Eifion is asleep on the sofa, and when Cadno hears what has happened, she makes Sioned leave.   When Eifion wakes, Cadno orders him to sleep in the shed from now on, as he has put their health at risk.   She tells him, “You lost me a long while ago, and now you have lost the roof over your head!   Get outside with the dogs!”
Under cover of darkness, Garry bundles the body into the boot of his car, leaving the feet hanging out, and drives round to park it in the garage.   He says he will take the necessary action when he has taken Sheryl home and got her settled.   He lowers the shutter on the door.

Friday 14 June 2013
Sheryl and Garry wake on the sofas at 7am;  he assures her that he has done what he said, but then the garage phones and he has to rush there.   On arrival, Geraint say that he found the door open and Garry’s car broken into;  the body has gone!
Hywel asks Gaynor what she is going to do about Macs, after he has raped a teacher and slept with half the management.   He warns that she will be in trouble when the truth comes out — and how about Rachel?   Eileen takes Sioned to the clinic, and later she has the phone call with the results:  she has Hepatitis B, and is devastated.   She tells Eileen that she thought he really loved her;  Jim says he will kill Macs, but Sioned does not want anyone to know.   Gaynor is typing a letter of resignation.
Garry finds Sheryl at the salon and tells her what has happened – she did not kill Kevin, as the body is no longer there, but he does not know where Kevin is.   While she is panicking, Garry tells her that there is no evidence – the flat has been wiped of prints, the car has been valeted;  they look towards the door and see . . . Kevin outside.
After Hywel, Jim and Eifion talk in the Deri about Macs, they are outside his door when he comes out and finds the word, “SCUM” in red on his door.   He threatens to call the police, but is reminded of the full story;  “What’s the charge for infecting someone deliberately, ABH or GBH?” says Eifion.   Macs calls his father and goes back inside.
Kevin surprises Debbie, telling her that he has been for X-rays and says he will not go to the cops, as he has realised that he did rape Sheryl.   He will arrange an annulment to their marriage as soon as possible, but Debbie will not hear of it, and insists on opening the café.
Macs asks Sion if he can stay at Y Felin, then Gaynor arrives and presents him with the resignation written on his behalf and warns him, if he calls the union, she will call the police, so he has no choice but to sign the letter.   She says there must be a boys’ school somewhere that would employ him, and she would give a reference that he is an excellent teacher.
Macs tells Sion that he is leaving, possibly for Cardiff, and is doubtful if he will return, asking Sion to look after the house for him.   The mob are still gathered in the street, Garry comes to see, and Kevin strides towards him, wanting his phone back.
Gaynor sees Rachel with two friends by the chip shop, and tells her that Mr White has Hep B and she ought to be tested.   Rachel replies, “I always insist on using condoms — only idiots don’t!” which puts Gaynor in her place.
After Sion has washed the flour and eggs from the car, Macs comes out of the door, puts his bags in the car, while the crowd watches silently, then drives away, accompanied by a slow handclap.

Monday 17 June 2013
Sheryl is still very troubled, and says she cannot carry on as normal;  Kevin wants to kill her, and she does not blame him.   She cannot forget his face at the window, it was chilling.   In the café, Gwyneth gets doughnuts for the salon, and Debbie is moaning about Sheryl.
Sioned goes to Sion’s house, looking for Macs, but Sion cannot contact him either, and says he needs time to sort himself out.   Sioned says, “I’d sort him out, given the chance!”   She was supporting him through everything, and the whole time he was deceiving and lying;  then he infected her and left.   Sion says it is possible she infected him;  she does not want anyone else to know that she tested positive, and she leaves.
Angela visits Debbie, who insists that Sheryl is not as innocent as she makes out.   Anita is making a pizza, and Moc suggests that they invite Wil over;  Anita is not keen, but does ring Sheryl, only to be met by a blunt refusal.
Gethin has been looking at the VAT regulations, and maintains that Iolo could save several hundred pounds, as he is in the wrong category.   Then Sioned arrives, convinced that Iolo must know where his “disgusting brother” is, and tells them her result is clear.   Iolo says a guilty conscience is a terrible thing, but Sioned thinks Macs has no conscience.
Sheryl is out in the street when Kevin approaches, and tells her he does not blame her for what she did, and he will not tell anyone.   “I understand why you did it;  we’re quits now,” he says.
In the Deri, Debbie tells Angela that she has not forgiven Kevin, but is waiting to get her revenge, saying that she needs to get as much out of him as possible.   Angela confesses that she was nothing like as hard on Jim;  she is not in Debbie’s league.
Sheryl reports to Garry that Kevin is being too nice to her – it is freaky, and she knows it is only a matter of time.   After Anita has been going on about Sheryl, Moc asks if she has considered that Kevin is actually guilty.   Later, Sheryl comes into the Deri, looking for Garry, and on the way out sees Kevin again;  he tells her that cannot live with himself after hurting her, and sobs that she means so much to him.   When Garry comes out of the chip shop, Sheryl tells him that Kevin is biding his time.   They get home, and Wil has been talking about capital punishment at school;  he does not agree with hanging anyone.   They should have life in prison, or put them in the army;  he says he wants to be a successful businesswoman, like his mam.

Tuesday 18 June 2013
In the café flat, Ricky asks Kevin, “Did you rape Sheryl?”   When Kevin says he misunderstood and made a mistake, Ricky walks out.   At the salon, Sheryl tells Dani that Kevin tried to apologise, in his own way, but Dani warns her not to trust him;  when Britt comes in she says she hopes he gets what he deserves.
At the farm, Cadno has phoned the council and found that permission has been refused;  when Eifion says they can appeal, she replies, “Some things are not worth trying again.”   They expect their test results tomorrow.
In the shop, Colin points out to Diane an article in the Western Post, saying the village bank is closing, so she tackles Moc on the subject, and he is adamant that it will not close while he is in charge.   When Ricky announces that he is going to live with his dad, Debbie objects, but Kevin urges her to respect what the boy wants.
Gaynor takes Hywel off for a picnic in the country, but all he does is gloat over the fact that Macs has gone for good – they have got rid of “the rat.”   He has been a cloud hanging over them since he was “messing with Izzy.”
Mark and Ricky are playing a video game when Debbie turns up with a pizza, saying it is odd, a mother and son living apart, but Ricky calls her “weird” for still living with him.   “I know what I’m doing,” she tells them.
Colin and Diane talk in the Deri about how charming Moc is.   Gaynor flirts with Hywel in the field, “You can do whatever you want with me in the great outdoors, but you’ll have to catch me first,” but he looks at the women’s names on his phone.   Kevin finds that takings at the café are well down, and he cannot blame the customers staying away;  when he finds it hard to look on the positive side, Debbie snaps, “Try harder!”
Jinx knocks on Eifion’s shed, wanting an interview about the planning refusal, and Eifion says he argues less with the dog than with Cadno;  but when Jinx jokes about him being in the doghouse, he is sent packing.
Moc comes out of the chippy and sees Sheryl;  he sympathises with what she is enduring.   It is very quiet in the Deri, and Colin says they should celebrate Gwyl Ifan (Midsummer Festival);  then Debbie walks in for some cans.   Britt tells her she has a nerve, walking around as if her husband has done nothing wrong;  everyone is avoiding the café, as they do not want to give money to a rapist.
Mark and Ricky enjoy a Chinese takeaway, and Mark says he is proud of his son, but Ricky thinks he has let his mother down;  Mark is sure she will come to her senses in the end.   Meanwhile, Debbie reaches the café with the beer cans, and hesitates before letting herself in.

Wednesday 19 June 2013
Sioned visits Eifion’s shed, surprised that “grumpy” Cadno has banished him there, and asks if she will ever forgive him;  he hopes so, as the latest news is that their test are clear – Sioned say that she is too.   They are both glad to be rid of Macs.
Sion cannot send e-mails, so phones Hywel, who is in the Deri, and says the server is probably down.   Sion tells Britt that the Macs business is doing him no favours at Bethania.   When Sioned gets back to the shop, she blames “John Wayne” Jim for running Macs out of town, and tells Eileen that Cadno and Eifion do not have Hep B.   “Why me, mam?” she pleads, and then Sion comes to apologise to her, but she does not want to know.   Sion talks to Eileen, and they agree that bringing up children is a problem, but theirs are not children any more, and they can only do their best.
Gethin cannot complete Iolo’s VAT return as the internet is down, and a call to Hywel, eating chips outside the chippy, is no help.   Later, Hywel is at the Deri, sympathising with Garry about Sheryl.   Gemma arrives late, and Ed reprimands her.   After quite a few drinks, Hywel is rambling about justice, and how it is not right, Kevin still being on the streets;  he thought he would be happier with Macs gone, and quips about, “Triangles stop life going square.”   Gemma will not serve him any more and advises him to go home.
Angela is the next to arrive at the shed, and regards it as rather a joke, then goes into the farm, telling Cadno she never banished Jim to the shed.   Marian says there is a black cloud over the place, and she cannot understand what is going on.   Then Cadno reveals to Angela the details of Eifion’s infidelity with Sioned, and the fact that they only just learned they were clear.   Eileen tells Jim that Sioned has not been to the doctor, as she is trying to avoid facing reality;  Jim describes himself as, “Sensitive as a sledgehammer.”
Ed cannot get his laptop online, but finds that Gemma has refused to serve Hywel, and says she cannot do that to a regular, and she should not drink behind the bar.   Sioned finds Hywel asleep on a bench in the street, she wakes him;  he mumbles on about doing them both a favour, getting rid of Macs, and says, “The silent murderer in any relationship is the lack of honesty between two people.”   Sioned leaves, and Garry passes, telling him to go home;  Hywel drunkenly responds, “You haven’t changed — you’re still the same old Garry Monk!”

Thursday 20 June 2013
In the café, Gwen is frying doughnuts, (the only time this activity has been seen) while Kevin bemoans the fact there is only one customer – Jinx – and that the café will soon be closing.   If he confesses to the police, when he comes out of prison the slate will be wiped clean.   He admits that Sheryl hit him, and, thinking he was dead, put him in the car boot;  Debbie rushes off to the salon, where she threatens Sheryl with being arrested for attempted murder in front of Wil, who will be taken into care.   If she goes ahead with the rape allegation, the jury will not believe her.   She tells Sheryl that a scan on Kevin’s head will reveal a blow from a heavy object, like an iron.   Sheryl eventually agrees.
Meanwhile Garry strides into the café, after Gwen has left, walks up behind Kevin, forcing his hand into the fryer;  Kevin screams in pain, and on the way out, Garry tells Jinx, “Kevin has had an accident – an accident!”   Jinx dashes in and puts the hand under cold water, whilst ringing for an ambulance.  Then Debbie returns, and finds out from Jinx that Garry had been there;  she sends Jinx to fetch Angela.
Garry returns to his flat, telling Sheryl that Kevin will not be touching anything with his left hand again.   “He’s lucky I only put his hand in the fat!   It made me feel much better.”   Sheryl is horrified, and reveals that she has agreed to withdraw the allegation of rape, so that they will not say anything else about the attempted murder.   She shouts hysterically, “How could I believe that you’d ever change?   You make a bad situation worse!”   Angela takes Kevin and Debbie direct to Morriston Hospital.
At home, Jinx tells Ffion about what happened, but he did not see Garry actually do anything.   The hand looked terrible, but he is scared and does not want to face the village hard man.   Ffion reassures him, “Whatever you decide to do, that’s what we’ll do.”
Garry has packed his bag, telling Sheryl, “I’ve only been a bad influence on you;  it’s better if I weren’t here.   I have to leave Cwmderi to sort my head out, and I won’t be coming back!”   Sheryl accuses him of running away and letting others clear up his mess – that is his style.   “I thought I could change Garry Monk,” she rants, “Why not rape me – you’re no better than Kevin!”   Garry looks shocked, then turns and leaves.

Friday 21 June 2013
Dani goes to see Sheryl, as she has heard about Kevin’s injury;  despite Dani’s objections, Sheryl says she is withdrawing the allegation.   If the case went to court, she was unlikely to win, and must think of Wil.   Kevin is back home, on painkillers, and facing skin grafts, but at least he has not lost the use of the hand.
DS Fielding visits Sheryl about dropping the charges, and asks more questions, warning Sheryl she might face charges for false accusation.   Meic visits Kevin, and Debbie knows that Garry did it, although Kevin insists it was an accident;  hearing that Jinx was in the café, Meic confronts him, but he repeats that he did not actually see anything, and asks Meic to leave.
Anita rushes to tell Moc that the accusation has been withdrawn, calling Sheryl, “A slut who tells lies!”   Later, seeing Sheryl in the street, Anita abuses her, before Sheryl tells Britt, “You don’t know what your brother did in the café last night!” and that he has left Cwmderi.
Sheryl tells Gwyneth that Garry has gone for good, and she is better off without him.   In the Deri, Meic tells everyone that both Sheryl and Kevin need support and a bit of peace.   Once again Debbie rubs it in that Kevin cheated on her, and says Garry will not get away with what he has done.   Moc takes flowers to Sheryl to apologise for Anita’s behaviour, and says that he will always be there for her.   Then Debbie arrives, demanding that Garry apologise, but Sheryl says he has gone, and she does not know where, or care.   Debbie suspects she put Garry up to it, as revenge.   Moc persuades Anita that she has to apologise, or she will not be able to see Wil.
Meanwhile Wil comes home and senses all is not well with his mother;  she tells him, “As long as I’ve got you, I’ll be all right.”

Monday 24 June 2013
Moc puts up a notice in the window of the bank – “This branch will be closing in 28 days.”   Diane remonstrates with him but he replies that some small branches must close.   Diane calls meeting a meeting at 4pm in the Deri.   Kevin’s hand continues to be very painful every time he touches anything, and he is getting fed up with Debbie, saying he never gets a minute’s peace.
People are cancelling their appointments at the salon;  Gwyneth and Dani try to get the truth out of Sheryl, and wonder if Kevin did rape her or not.   Britt goes to café, and squares up to Debbie, who calls Garry a psychopath, putting Kevin's hand in the fryer.   Britt replies that he is lucky Garry didn’t do something worse.
Then Britt goes to salon in threatening mood, saying what Kevin did was a thousand times worse than what Garry did.   Sheryl tells her she hit Kevin with the iron, and, thinking he was dead, she and Garry were going to bury him.   Britt says that Garry could have found her an alibi, and begs her to go back to the police, but Sheryl tells Britt to leave.   Meic comes in and offers help;  about Garry he says, “The wicked flee.”
Moc tells Anita he has negotiated a good redundancy package, which he has accepted, she thinks he should have consulted her first.   At the meeting about the bank, Moc suggests starting some community enterprise in the bank premises, providing work for local people, and this gets Diane’s support;  she says they need to form a committee, and Megan volunteers to be the chairman, but Diane says Moc should be.    Jim suggests to Eileen that she should get a cash machine in the shop, as this would be a profitable move, and she removes her signature from Diane’s petition.
Meic talks to Sheryl, and later takes Kevin round there to try and sort things out;  he says she does not deserve all this hostility, and tearfully admits that he did rape Sheryl, much to Meic’s disgust.   He also reveals that Debbie and Garry know the truth.   Meic says he would not have brought Kevin if he had known.   Sheryl says she will never forgive Kevin, but cannot reinstate charge;  she risks being charged, has lost her self-respect, the business - and Garry.   Wil is on his way home, so Sheryl tells Kevin to leave.
Kevin gets home, and tells Debbie that Meic now knows the truth;  he is glad Garry did what he did – it reminds him of the pain he has caused Sheryl.     Anita wants to be Moc’s personal assistant in new venture, but he tells her that is not necessary.   They meet Wil, on his way home from school;  Moc says he has a surprise for him, playfully ruffling his hair.   Paranoid, Sheryl scrubs the treatment table with bleach.

No-one has entered the CwmFM jingle competition, so the prize is raised to £100;  Colin could use some money and decides to enter, but Iolo thinks he needs to be musical.   In the café, Colin tries to think of a jingle;  Dai comes in and says the “rap” on the radio should have a “C” in front of it;  Colin suddenly gets inspiration and rushes off, leaving his cup of tea, which Dai drinks.
Wil wants Sheryl to come to the school sports day, but she says she is busy at work.   Anita tells Moc that Wil must be very confused, with Garry going, and wants him to stay with them;  Moc says she will have to make up with Sheryl.   He propels her towards the salon, and after some small talk, apologises to Sheryl.   In the end she offers to pay Sheryl’s fine, and buy a holiday for her and Wil.   Sheryl says that Wil is having nightmares and calls herself “a terrible mother.”   They agree that Wil can come over on Friday.
At the Deri, Iolo tells Jinx that Colin and his jingles has driven him from the house;  Jinx is thinking of entering, and wants Iolo to do the speaking, but he refuses, so Jinx asks Dai, and they agree to share the prize fifty-fifty.   Dai boasts to Hywel that he played the euphonium at school.   Gethin and Iolo are dumbstruck when they hear Colin’s jingle;  he rushes upstairs to get his recorder, and pulls the keyboard over.
When Wil gets home he complains that all the other mothers were there, and says she did not try to go.   When she says he can go to stay with Mam-gu on Friday, he does not want to go and leave her alone.   He asks, “Is it my fault that Uncle Garry has gone?   I thought I’d upset him;  and why have you and Uncle Kevin fallen out?”   She tells him, “Forget them — you and I are going to be all right.”
Moc has been working on a business plan, and says there is a risk, but he thinks it is worth it;  Anita thanks him for sorting things with Sheryl.

Wednesday 26 June 2013
Ffion and Jinx have had a disturbed night, and Jinx was expecting a letter from the hospital by now;  Ffion says the hospital knows best, and she is so grateful to him.   He replies, “I can help, so that’s what I’m going to do.”   He goes for a run, as he wants to be in good shape for the operation, and might stop drinking.
A rep for a film company comes into the shop, looking for a run-down 60’s house in an estate for a period drama, entitled “After Dark”, so Eileen sends her to Maes-y-Deri, Jim’s house.   The rep says it is simply a TV drama, set in the sixties.
Gemma is late for work again, and Ed is in a foul mood, so when she is looking at her phone instead of working, he sacks her, “Get your bag and leave!”   Gemma tells Sioned, and wants her to get a job there, and make such a mess of it that Ed will want Gemma back.
Jim comes to the shop and tells Colin that a woman wants to use his house for filming, and will pay him, but he is worried about what sort of film it is, and so does not want to tell Eileen.   Colin tells Eileen, and she thinks she will play a trick on him.   Colin then tells Jim that Eileen will think he is a pervert, with that sort of thing going on in his house.
Sioned finds no-one behind the bar, so she gets a customer a pint of cider;  Ed cannot serve any food, and then the film crew come in, so he asks her to help.   Jinx, on his run, calls at Hywel’s for a drink, suffers cramp, and Hywel manipulates his leg.   He tells Jinx that Ffion has not been so happy for years.
Ed suddenly finds Sioned has organised a wine-tasting session with the film crew, and is angry that she has opened five bottles, but she reveals she has charged them £10 each and will get them to buy some bottles later.   This changes his mind, and he offers her the job, not what Gemma had in mind.
Jim asks Eileen if he can stay with her for the weekend as the film crew are at his house;  Eileen says he will have to take her on the set, which makes him uncomfortable, but she just giggles.

Thursday 27 June 2013
Eifion is in his shed, and rings someone, asking for a favour;  shortly afterwards, he is in the farmhouse, with Cadno and Marian, when CwmFM announces a request for Cadno, but she turns off the radio.   Marian remarks to Cadno that it is a pity things are in such a mess, and Cadno reveals the reason why – “Eifion had an affair with Sioned!”   Marian is amazed and says she will never get over this.
Jinx is getting anxious about the operation, and wants to be on the organ donor register, in case anything goes wrong;  Ffion assures him she will hold his hand, and says she has arranged supper in the Deri.   Jinx is surprised that she has asked Hywel and Gaynor to babysit.
In the Deri, Sioned arrives for her shift, and when Eifion comes in reveals to Ed about the shed, and says they do not serve dogs.   He has bought a pair of lovebirds in a cage for Cadno.
While Arwen is having her lunch, Jinx thinks that Ffion’s ex-husband and boss baby-sitting is odd.   When Eifion gets home, Marian tells him she knows about him and Sioned, and says Cadno will forgive him in time, but as soon as Cadno sees the birds, she tells him to get rid of them.   Marian locks the pair of them in the room and says she will not let them out until they settle things.   Cadno does not want him or anything from him;  “You’ve lost everything because you couldn’t keep your trousers on!   Pathetic!   I don’t trust you!”   Then she calls to Marian that they have made up, but as soon as the door opens she orders Eifion out.
Hywel is playing with Arwen, and thinking about a baby, but Gaynor says it is too late for that;  he ought to be thinking about a vasectomy rather than a baby.
Jinx and Ffion have enjoyed their evening, but are keen to get home and cuddle Arwen;  as they are leaving, Ed and Sioned are larking around, and Eileen warns Sioned she has to tell him, but is warned to keep out of it.
As Hywel says to Gaynor, “You’re not castrating me!” Ffion and Jinx return.   Meanwhile Cadno takes an empty cage to Eifion — “What have you done with them?” he shouts.

Friday 28 June 2013
As arranged, Wil goes to Anita’s;  in the café, Hywel talks to Jinx about the jingle competition, says there are only three entries, and that he alone will judge the winner.   Jinx tries to influence him to favour Dai’s entry, as it might lead to funding for CwmFM from the council.
Colin feels nervous, and Gethin has got Iolo another emergency plumbing job.   At Anita’s, Wil is helping make pizza, when Moc comes home unexpectedly, and gives Wil his surprise, a rugby ball signed by a famous player;  then they play in the garden.
Debbie visits Mark, and dissuades Ricky when he says he wants to move back in with her.   She tells Mark it is lucky that Garry has disappeared, as she is going to do something to him.   “He’ll regret looking at Kevin when I’ve finished with him – I can play dirty, too!”   After their meal, Anita tells Wil not to mention that Moc was there.
Dai is first to perform at the competition, and after messing up the first time, demands a second chance.   Kevin comes out of the café, and walks across to speak to Sheryl, saying he has spoiled things with his dad, as well as everything else;  he hopes that they could be friends, but Sheryl replies, “Impossible!” and tells him to go away.
We missed seeing the other contestant, Matthew McCulloch, having his turn, and now Colin performs his over-the-top rap;  Jinx announces to his listeners that it is all up to Hywel Llywelyn now.
In the salon, Dani offers to talk to Kevin for Sheryl, and tells her she has to sort herself out.   Sheryl says that the state she is in, it is a good job Wil is with Anita.
When Colin is announced as the winner, Jinx and Dai take it badly;  Jinx tells Dai, “It’s your fault that we lost,” Hywel hears, and accuses them of fraud.   If Jinx pulls another stunt like that, he will be out on his ear.
Debbie closes the café and tells Kevin what he needs is compensation;  if Garry comes back she is going to squeeze every penny out of him – he’s not going to get away with it.   Kevin says he deserves jail, but Debbie protests that she will never turn her back on him.
Gethin and Iolo are heading for the Deri as Anita and Moc are taking Wil home;  seeing Moc stroke Wil’s hair, Gethin suddenly demands to go back home, and he looks very worried.
